Don't Fire Your Health Insurance

By Jeff Cline

We all dread paying our health insurance premiums. They seem to steadily be on the rise. It leaves many of us wondering if it is worth the financial sacrifices we make just to pay the premium. After all we are healthy as a horse! Truth is canceling health insurance can cost you much more then those premiums.

Health insurance is very important for a few reasons. First, it is proven that those who have it get better healthcare and in turn are healthier. Second, thousands of people every year end up in bankruptcy court due to lack of health insurance.

Nobody expects to become ill. Especially those that are very health wise individuals. But sometimes due to genetics and our environment we can not stop the unexpected illness. Illness can sometimes the healthiest of the healthiest.

For these reasons it is very important that we have at least minimum health insurance coverage at all times. Catastrophic health insurance is the most minimum coverage you can find. It covers major hospitalization. Some carriers and people refer to this as a hospitalization plan.

If you think you need a little more coverage but still think you can not afford full benefit health insurance on your budget, then you can opt for a saver plan. Saver plans typically have catastrophic coverage plus limited office visits, such as 2-3 a year. This kind of plan is perfect for a health nut that only see's the inside of a doctors office once in a blue moon.

If you are one of those that want all inclusive benefits then you too can still find affordable rates. It does require a little shopping however. And agent or broker can help you sort through the options and find a plan that matches your expectations.

If you have just had a sudden job loss or change in employer and will have a lapse in health insurance coverage do not think for one second it is safe to go without insurance because it is only a short time. A lot can happen in a week or a month. Don't fall victim to this ideology.

Short term or temporary health insurance is just what it states. It gives you needed health insurance coverage for a short term, typically 30 days to a year. These plans are usually a fraction of the cost of regular health insurance. Well worth the money! They typically work like a catastrophic plan. But there are some that have clinic visits and RX.
